The Need for Drug Rehab in Boston, MA

According to boston.gov, opioid-related overdose deaths increased by 12 percent in Boston from 2022-2023. Opioid-related deaths encompass those where a person took opioids only and those who took opioids in addition to another substance (whether on purpose or unintentionally, such as cases where other illicit substances were cut with fentanyl). Cocaine and other drugs are also a serious problem in Boston and surrounding areas.

Despite this, many Boston residents don’t get the treatment they need. Without treatment, substance abuse and its effects can worsen, and the individual will continue to face risks such as overdose and death. By offering accessible outpatient programs covered by insurance, East Coast Recovery makes addiction treatment possible for individuals and families looking for drug rehab in Boston, MA.

Our Addiction and Dual-Diagnosis Treatment Programs for Boston Residents

East Coast Recovery treats all types of substance addiction. We’re also equipped to address co-occurring disorders in clients who live with one or more additional mental health conditions. This is called dual-diagnosis treatment, which is recommended when applicable because it leads to better treatment outcomes and an improved quality of life.

Our treatment center in Massachusetts offers the following levels of care. You’ll get a personalized treatment plan no matter what level of care you’re in.

PHP in Massachusetts (Partial Hospitalization Program)

Our partial hospitalization program, or PHP, in Massachusetts is a common starting level of care for clients coming from Boston. At East Coast Recovery, PHP involves an all-day treatment schedule daily throughout the week. As a PHP client, you’ll participate in skill groups, education sessions, group therapy, individual therapy, process groups, and other treatment activities. Family therapy is provided bi-weekly.

The intensity of PHP is similar to an inpatient program, but you can live off-site or stay at our comfortable and welcoming sober living house for the duration of your program. This means that PHP is often ideal for clients who do not want to stay in a traditional hospital-like setting and want or need more freedom outside of treatment hours.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Boston

While PHP clients have an all-day treatment schedule, IOP clients at East Coast Recovery attend treatment for around 10-12 hours per week. You’ll get a personalized treatment plan consisting of group therapy, individual therapy, education sessions, and other activities, but you’ll have a lower total weekly time commitment (compared to a PHP client).

This level of care can accommodate clients who need to work while in treatment or who are balancing another obligation, like college classes. IOP can be a starting level of care, or it can help you transition out of a higher level of care, like PHP.

Evening IOP Program

Evening IOP is very similar to our standard IOP program. However, sessions are held in the evening rather than during the day. We have found that offering evening sessions makes treatment more accessible to clients who need to work for all or most of the day or who otherwise need to attend therapy in the evening due to their schedules.

Aftercare Program

Aftercare planning is essential in addiction treatment settings. As addiction treatment at our center comes to an end, the East Coast Recovery team will help you create an aftercare plan. This may include referrals to therapists and psychiatrists in your area, job and education resources, sober living, relapse prevention strategies, support groups, and anything else that will aid your ongoing recovery.

Alumni Support Program

In addition to aftercare planning, we have an alumni support program that helps former clients stay connected and on track. East Coast Recovery holds regular reunions, outings, events, and psychoeducation classes for alumni alongside other services, like check-in calls.

Sober Living

Some clients looking for drug rehab in Boston choose to drive to our treatment center in Cohasset daily. Others opt to stay in our sober living house. Staying in our sober living house can make getting to and from treatment more convenient, but it can also provide an added sense of community, accountability, and structure that is important for addiction recovery.

Evidence-Based Addiction Treatment Covered by Insurance

How do we help clients get treatment that truly meets their needs? We offer an extensive range of evidence-based and supportive holistic treatments for addiction and mental health. Again, where you get treatment can make a major difference in your experience. East Coast Recovery personalizes addiction treatment beyond addressing co-occurring mental health concerns. We offer exposure to 12-step, recreation, creative therapies, motivational therapies, experiential therapies, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), general psychiatry, and so much more. If a specific approach does not resonate with you, we’ll help you find what does.

Not all rehab centers in the Boston area accept health insurance. Finding a treatment center that takes insurance is a must-have for most clients and their families. On top of providing the highest quality of care, East Coast Recovery accepts nearly all health insurance plans.
