Hundreds of lives are still being lost. Rhode Island recorded 404 accidental overdose deaths in 2023—a toll higher than fatalities from fires, firearms, or car crashes. Although this marked a 7.3 % drop from the year before, the crisis is far from over.
Early 2024 data show 329 overdose deaths, a further 18.6 % decrease, but hundreds of families are still grieving each year.
The latest SAMHSA survey estimates that 207,000 Rhode Islanders aged 12+ met criteria for a substance-use disorder in 2022–23—including 119,000 with alcohol-use disorder and 111,000 with drug-use disorder.

Partial Day Treatment Program meets three to four days weekly for roughly three hours each session. You’ll attend therapy, skills workshops, and peer groups while beginning to rebuild work, school, or family routines.
