Percocet Addiction Treatment in Massachusetts

Percocet is a medication often prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain. It contains oxycodone, which is an opioid pain reliever, and acetaminophen. While it is a perfectly legal and widely used prescription medication to treat things like pain, the key ingredients mean that there is a high risk of addiction.

Many people who use Percocet through a prescription might find that they eventually need Percocet addiction treatment. But what does that treatment involve

Percocet Addiction Day or Partial Day Treatment

With East Coast Recovery, our day treatment is a form of Percocet addiction treatment that functions as an outpatient program. Our outpatient program means that all clients get to return home at the end of the day.

During the day, however, they come to our facility for a structured schedule of therapies that can include individual and group therapy as well as holistic practices or experiential therapies like art therapy and music therapy.

Our partial day program is a less intense version of this, which meets anywhere between 10 and 12 hours per week. Some clients might transition from an inpatient program to our partial-day program or step down from a full-day program to a partial-day program. When you reach out to our team, we can help you decide which one is best.

Benefits of a Partial Day Program

Our partial day program gives you a part-time option to build continuing skills without the same level of commitment. This can be ideally suited to someone who still wants support but is starting their transition back to normal life.

Benefits of a Day Program

This program is more robust than our partial day program, with a lot of flexibility and a chance to use new skills in a real-world setting at the end of each day. For example:

Martha learns that yoga can actually help her calm down in the middle of a stressful situation. During her yoga classes at our facility, she is taught that some poses are considered “protective,” meaning they help your body protect itself, giving a chance to refocus.

One pose was taught in a chair setting: Martha sits in the chair, opens her legs wide, bends forward until she can grip her knees, and focuses on her breathing for 5 seconds before opening back up again with her shoulders spread wide. She is taught that the same kind of forward fold, where she grabs her knees and takes a moment to focus on her breathing, can be done standing as well.

After a full day of individual and group therapy, Martha goes home and is triggered, overwhelmed by a call from a friend mocking/berating her for getting clean, a family member who texted about a crisis they were having which “Martha had to fix” for them, and a spouse who was worried about how they would pay their bills next month because Martha was only working part time.

Instead of having an anxiety attack, getting angry with friends or family, or turning back to drugs or alcohol, Martha sat down at the kitchen table after taking her phone call and practiced that yoga pose. She practiced another “protective” pose after texting her family back.

This enabled her to draw her attention back to the present moment, back to her breathing, and give her body and brain a chance to reconnect and remind herself of what was important.

With all of our outpatient programs, whether it is our more intense day program or our slightly less intense partial day program, each client has the opportunity to learn individual coping skills that they can practice, just like Martha, finding things that work for them at the moment. Practicing at home and in the real world makes the transition back to normal life much easier; by the time you are done with your program, you will have already practiced many of your coping skills in real life successfully.

Goals of a Day or Partial Day Program

With our outpatient programs, we focus on giving personalized treatment that helps each client reach several goals, including, like Martha, the ability to practice coping skills in real time.

Others include:

  • Building a solid support system, which is why we incorporate things like Family Programs and aftercare
  • Building good interpersonal skills and healing family dynamics
  • Replacing unhealthy habits with positive coping skills, like Martha replaced drugs and alcohol with yoga and mindfulness in that moment
  • Learning and appreciating how addiction works and how to overcome it long-term

At East Coast Recovery, our Percocet addiction treatment is personalized for each client.

Starting Percocet Addiction Treatment

We know how difficult it can be just to get started. If you are struggling with Percocet, other drugs, or alcohol, and underlying mental health disorders, figuring out how you can manage a treatment program while still going to work, paying your bills, and meeting other obligations might seem overwhelming.

That’s why we assign case managers to each of our clients. Our case managers can help you do things like:

  • Apply for FMLA to cover the time off
  • Apply for short-term disability
  • Apply for benefits
  • Set up your appointments
  • Prepare for discharge when you complete your program

They are only one part of the process, though, with other group facilitators and clinicians leaving you supported from start to finish, helping you participate in things like relapse prevention skill building, DBT skills groups, meditation, nutrition, or art therapy. With such a wide range of unique treatment methods, we can help you find personalized day treatment.
