Brookline MA Drug Rehab Needs

Brookline might have lower rates of drug abuse compared to other parts of the state, but opioid-related addictions and overdoses are still a problem. EMS responded to nearly 40 opioid incidents in 2022, with opioids and alcohol representing the biggest threats in the area. A significant number of people seeking help at Brookline, MA, drug and alcohol rehab centers were doing so for either opioids or alcohol abuse. The city has currently tried to expand access to co-occurring treatment programs, those that provide treatment for addiction and mental health at the same time.

Levels of Care at East Coast Recovery

As an outpatient-only facility, we want to make sure that you find the right level of Brookline MA drug rehab, which is why we encourage you to reach out to our team to discuss your treatment options and make sure that you are starting the right program.

Day Treatment

Our Day Treatment program is a structured outpatient program where you come to our facility during the day for approximately 6 hours each day, including lunch, every day of the week, Monday through Friday.

With this type of program, you return home at night rather than remaining at our treatment center. If you do not currently have stable living or you have a family member who lacks stable living, we can also help provide referrals for sober living facilities so that you have a safe place where you can return after your treatment.

This is a more structured type of care compared to traditional outpatient programs, where you will participate in things like scheduled activities, group and individual therapy sessions, family therapy twice per week, and other experiential therapies. Part of this program involves listening to guest speakers and having the opportunity to participate in things like outdoor activities.

Partial Day Treatment

The next level down is our Partial Day Treatment. This is similarly structured, but instead of 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, you participate in an average of 10-12 hours each week, spread out over a few days. This program can be your first step in recovery, or it can be used as a step down after completing something like a residential program or our day program.

Aftercare

When it is time for you to finish your outpatient program with us, we help you prepare with our Aftercare Plans for Substance Abuse. We help you stay connected to a good support system and a local sober community so that you can continue to be held accountable and actively maintain your sobriety when you leave East Coast Recovery.

Our Treatment for Mental Health and Addiction

With East Coast Recovery, our team works hard to provide evidence-based treatment for co-occurring disorders. When you or someone you love struggles with things like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction, the right treatment is paramount.

Our team will work with you to achieve whole-person healing through a spectrum of treatment options.

Psychotherapy

Our team offers a range of therapies so clients can work with the therapy that works best for them. While each of these falls under the umbrella term of “psychotherapy,” they are a far cry from the traditional concepts of clients on a couch talking about their feelings.

With Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), for example, your therapeutic relationship is grounded more on a good back-and-forth, complete with homework assignments and, in some cases, group assignments.

As our facility specializes in day programs and partial day programs, the things you learn can be practiced in real-time when you return home each day.

Medication Management

With co-occurring mental health disorders or addiction alone, there may be a need for medication. Medication can help in two ways:

Recovery/Detox

The first is with your initial detox and addiction recovery. If, for example, you are struggling with an addiction to opioids or alcoholism, certain medications can ease the discomfort of your withdrawal symptoms and help prevent a relapse moving forward.

Symptoms Management

The second is with the rest of your program. As you continue with your partial day or day program, you might need medication to help manage symptoms of a secondary mental health condition. Our team offers medication management services as part of treatment plans to help ensure your medicine is working correctly.

With the right medication, you can put yourself in a better position to focus on recovery and concentrate on what you are learning in things like CBT or DBT.

Holistic Care

Another part of our programs focuses on providing holistic care to our clients. This includes things like:

  • Mindfulness Meditation: Our mindfulness meditation program encourages clients to turn inward, recognize and sit with emotional responses instead of trying to avoid or ignore them
  • Adventure Therapy: Adventure therapy incorporates outdoor activities to help boost self-esteem and social skills while also building life skills
  • Nutrition Education: Our nutritional programs teach clients the relationship between food and mood, sleep patterns, and emotional regulation so that they can learn how to improve their mental health with healthy eating
  • Art Therapy: Studies show that art therapy can prove a useful form of communicating emotions, especially when traditional talk therapy might not be your preferred method
  • Yoga: With yoga, you can learn to sit with discomfort, recognizing it as temporary and learning that you can get through discomfort by focusing on things without your control, like your breathing
  • 12-Step Programs: Whichever program you choose at East Coast Recovery, we will help you start planning for long-term success by incorporating 12-step programs into your routine
  • Relapse Prevention: Our goal is to ensure you and your loved ones have the tools to remain focused on the present, and part of that involves our relapse prevention sessions, where you learn how to recognize triggers and use skills taught in therapy to avoid harmful decision making

No matter your needs, we can help you with mental health treatment for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or substance abuse.
